      Meliyah is our CanSkater of the month. She is our youngest Skater of the Month so far at just 4 years old! Maliyah has been skating just over a year and only started in Canskate this past September. In that time she has worked very hard on every session to improve her skill set. She has shown great promise as a figure skater and in fact says she would love to become a figure skater like her older sister. When asked what she likes about skating she says twirling, going fast and balancing on one foot. We look forward to watching you continue to improve Maliyah! Great job!

      Marissa is 12 years old and has been skating for 6 years. One of the things she loves when skating is jumping. Her favourite jump is the Flip jump and currently she is working on landing the Axel jump. Marissa is always eager to learn and improve her skills. She always has a great attitude and works very hard at every session even when she is not in a lesson with her coach. In her free time Marissa says she enjoys doing gymnastics at home. Way to go Marissa! Keep up working hard and you will nail that Axel in no time!

      Anika is December's PA of the month. Anika is 12 and has been a PA for 4 years! As one of the younger PA's she has shown great development as a leader and takes her job very seriously. She has the ability to handle all levels of skaters. She is always willing to fill in for other PA's when needed. Anika says she enjoys helping the very beginner skaters and seeing them progress. A very dedicated skater, Anikas goal is to one day be in the Olympics! This busy young lady enjoys relaxing with friends and family when she is not on the ice. Keep up the great work Anika!

    Ylanna turned 12 on May 4th and has been skating for 6 years with our club. Ylanna is in the Star Academy program. Her coaches have seen her improve greatly this year and say she has shown a real desire to improve and achieve her goals. Ylanna enjoys learning new skating skills. She is very excited to enter her first competition in Star 1 at the Victoria Day Super Series. Good luck Ylanna at competition and congratulations on a great year of skating!

    Anna is 9, turning 10 on the 21st of this month. She has been skating for 5 years. She has a great love for skating and it shows in her determination and desire to perfect her skating skills. Her coaches say she is a pleasure to teach, not only is she respectful of coaches and fellow skaters, she works hard to perfect her skating skills and pays close attention to details, such as choreography. She is most proud of landing her axel jump. One of Anna's goals is to do triple jumps. Keep up your dedication to the b sport Anna and you will be sure to achieve your goal!! Congrats and Happy Birthday Anna!

    Emily is this months Program Assistant of the month. Emily has been a PA for 3 years. Emily has been skating since she was 8 and loved it ever since. She enjoys being a PA and helping the group program skaters learn new skills. She always arrives on time and with a smile! The children in the group programs respond well to her positive attitude. These qualities make her a great role model to her fellow PA's and the group skaters she is working with. Thank you Emily for being such a great asset to our ASC group programs!

    Nicole Krahn is 12 years old. She has been skating for 7 years. When asked what she enjoys about skating her responses were the competitions, getting all dressed up for competition, practising her Axel jump and being with her friends at the rink. Nicole is talented, driven and hard working on and off the ice. She is kind and always willing to lend a hand. Her dream is to one day skate in Disney on Ice. Keep up the hard work Nicole and you will certainly make your dream come true!

    Keerat is 15 and been skating since she was 6 years old. This is Keerat's first year as a PA and she is enjoying every minute! She loves playing games with the kids and feeling trusted by the children in Canskate. Keerat has shown good leadership skills in her job as a PA. She is always on time and aware of her responsibilities. She keeps the kids moving and having fun. The kids in the group programs respond positively to her polite and kind nature. Awesome job Keerat! Keep up the great work!

    Hanna is 9 years old and in the CanSkate program. This is her 4th year skating in CanSkate. She just recently passed Stage 4 and is working on her Stage 5 badge. She is a patient and hard working girl who listens well and applies corrections when asked. When asked what she enjoys most about skating she said she just loves the feeling of being on the ice! Some of her goals in skating are to improve her boot drag and complete Stage 5. Keep up the hard work and enjoying your time on the ice Hannah!

    Samantha is 15 and has been skating for 3 years. In that time she has developed a passion for the sport. Samantha loves to to learn new skating skills. She has had a great year at competitions and it is no wonder given her hard work and focus on the ice. Samantha is looking toward mastering her sit spin which should not take long as she is always giving her best on the ice. Samantha is kind and thoughtful making her a great member of the ASC. We look forward to seeing what she can achieve in the future!

    Jennifer is 15 years old and has been a PA for 3 years. She is a strong leader and role model making her a great part of the PA team. The kids in the group programs respect her. Jennifer's great sense of humour and smile also bring a positive addition to the group programs. Jennifer loves assisting the coaches and helping the kids work on their technique. When she is not on the ice working as a PA or practising her own skating she just loves to be with her friends. Thank you Jennifer for being such a valuable member of the ASC Program Assistant team!

    Emily is this months group skater of the month. Emily is in Star Academy. She is 11 years old and has been skating since she was 9 years old. Emily enjoys skating and her coaches say she is hardworking and eager to learn. Emily also enjoys practising her flute for band at school. She is looking toward passing her next level in skating soon. Congratulations Emily on your fantastic effort on the ice!

    Jada is 13 and has been skating since 7 years old. When asked what she enjoys about skating she replied being with friends at the rink and learning and mastering jumps. Jada is currently working on her Axel jump and hoping to land it very soon!Her coach says Jada is determined to do her best to achieve her goals, so that Axel should not take her long! Her positive mood makes her a joy to coach and a great friend at the rink. We can't wait to see you land that Axel Jada!

    Emilie is 13 years old and has only been skating for 4 years and PA'ing for 3. Emilie loves to have fun with the kids in our group programs. Emilie is a reliable PA; always arriving on time and prepared for the job at hand without being prompted. She works well with the other PA's and the skaters in the group programs. When Emilie is not practising or PA'ing she says she enjoys riding her bike. Congratulations Emilie and keep on working and playing hard!

    Ethan is 11 and has been playing hockey since he was 6 years old. Ethan is in CanPower 2 and is working very hard to advance to CanPower 3. He enjoys the coaches in the program and how CanPower is helping him improve his skating. His coaches enjoy him as well, they say he is respectful, a good listener, a hard worker and overall great kid! Ethan is super active off the ice as he swims competitively, plays water polo, and also loves hiking,skiing and snowshoeing! This busy kid is very deserving of this months group skater of the month award!

    Isabella is 13 years old and has been skating for 5 years. In that time she has grown tremendously as a skater. Isabella has found a great love for the sport and says when she is on the ice she forgets about her problems and anxiety. She has also made some great friends at the rink. Currently, Isabella is working on landing her Axel jump. Isabella's other interests include painting, playing basketball, going to the mall and playing video games now and again. Congratulations Isabella! Keep up the great work and love for the sport!

    Taralyn is November's Program Assistant of the Month. She is a veteran PA as she has been a PA for 6 years. She enjoys being a PA for the job experience and opportunity to practice leadership skills. Which is exactly what she is being recognized for; her ability to lead and motivate the skaters and her fellow PA's. When Taralyn is not on the ice you will find her on the dance floor. This busy young woman is a great addition to the Program Assistant team, she will certainly make a terrific employee in the future.
